As we ease from spring into summer, Palm Beach County continues to welcome exciting new players into the local craft beer scene. Be sure to add SaltWater Brewery in Delray Beach to your summer local craft beer schedule.
SaltWater Brewery opened in late December 2013, and in six months has taken Delray by storm. Located in the big red barn just off of I-95 on West Atlantic Avenue, this full-production brewery is beautiful. The reclaimed wood bar, saltwater fish tanks and accent pieces—such as the 1901 Frigidaire walk-in refrigerator door salvaged from Palm Beach Hotel—showcase this brewery’s style.
Warm, friendly beer-tenders help guide you in selecting one of their featured beers. Some of the beers you may find on tap during your visit are Spiny Tail Pale Ale, Stinger Double IPA, Waterman Wheat Belgian Wheat, Sea Cow Milk Stout, and my personal favorite, Chocolate Mayday Imperial Chocolate Cream Porter. SaltWater Brewery was invited to present its beers at a variety of events during Philly Beer Week in Philadelphia, Pa. (May 30-June 8, 2014), which is considered quite an honor in the national craft beer community.
Owners Chris Gove, Bo Eaton, Peter Agardy, and Dustin Jeffers, along with head brewer Bill Taylor, put forth extra effort to make sure you are getting great-tasting beers. Recently SaltWater Brewery signed on with Brown Distribution, and its beers can now be found at your local South Florida watering holes. Check out the Facebook page for upcoming tap takeovers and beer dinners happening near you.
